Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
